How to generate slides from Google Sheets

How to turn Google Sheets rows into Google Slides or PowerPoint decks with Apps Script, a Workspace add-on or a dedicated tool, with plans and prices compared.

Updated 21 Oct 2026

Ten tools in our records make Google Slides or PowerPoint decks from Google Sheets, more than for any other app except Salesforce. Most of them keep the template in a Google file. They are listed on the Google Sheets to Google Slides page and the Google Sheets to PPTX page. For slide tools across every source, see data to presentation tools, and for every Sheets output, the Google Sheets hub.

The native option

Google Sheets has no built-in document generation; Apps Script can merge rows into Google Docs if you write the code. The same scripting approach can fill a Slides template, but you own the script, its errors and its upkeep.

That suits a team with someone who writes code and a deck that rarely changes. Everyone else uses an add-on or a dedicated tool. Add-ons run from the Extensions menu or on a schedule, and Apps Script can run on edit or on a time trigger.

The Zapier, Make or n8n path

Most Sheets slide tools connect to the sheet directly, so an automation platform is optional here. It helps when the deck must go somewhere after it is made, or when the trigger lives in another app. Among the Sheets slide tools in our records, SourceToDocs lists Zapier, Make and n8n from its Pro plan, Plumsail Documents lists Zapier and Make, and Portant lists Zapier. The Workspace add-ons list Google Drive as their integration.

Dedicated tools

Six of the ten tools, chosen to show the price range. Prices were checked on 20 Oct 2026.

  • SourceToDocs reads the sheet, writes Google Slides and Google Docs, and exports PDF, PPTX and DOCX from Google Docs templates, from $19 a month billed annually ($24 monthly), with a free plan of 1 document a month.
  • Merge Slides merges Sheets rows into a Google Slides deck and outputs Google Slides and PDF; it has a free tier of 100 rows a month, and paid pricing is on request.
  • Document Studio outputs Google Slides, Google Docs, PDF, email and e-sign documents from Google templates, from $79 a year, with a trial of 25 documents a month.
  • Form Publisher outputs Google Slides, PPTX, Google Docs, DOCX, XLSX and PDF from Google Docs or Word templates, from $99 a year, with 20 free submissions a month.
  • Portant uses Google Docs or Word templates and outputs Google Slides, PPTX, Google Docs, DOCX, PDF and e-sign documents, from $42 a month billed annually, with 30 free documents a month.
  • Rollstack puts BI dashboards from Tableau, Power BI and Looker into Google Slides, PPTX and Google Docs, from $833 a month billed yearly.

The other four are Matik and Slideform, both with pricing on request, Plumsail Documents for PPTX, and Pitch, a presentation tool we list as adjacent.

Which route to pick

For a small, repeating job such as certificates or one-page summaries, start with a Workspace add-on. Merge Slides gives 100 rows a month free. Document Studio and Form Publisher cost $79 and $99 a year.

For client reports or proposals that need a mix of Slides and Docs output, look at Portant or SourceToDocs. Both keep the template in a Google file, both output Google Slides and PPTX, and both have a free plan to test with: 30 documents a month on Portant, 1 on SourceToDocs.

For decks built from BI dashboards, Rollstack is in a different price band, from $833 a month. Matik also targets data-driven decks such as QBRs and renewals, with pricing on request.

If the deck must be a PowerPoint file, check the PPTX column before you choose. Form Publisher, Portant, SourceToDocs, Rollstack, Matik, Slideform and Plumsail Documents output PPTX, as does Pitch. Merge Slides and Document Studio output Google Slides and do not list PPTX.

Pick by deck shape too. One row per deck suits proposals and reports. One row per slide suits catalogs and directories. Test the shape you need with real rows, including long text and images, during the free tier or trial.

Write Apps Script only if you have someone to maintain it and the add-ons do not fit.
