How to generate PDFs from Jotform

How to turn Jotform submissions into PDFs with Jotform PDF Editor, a webhook, or a Zapier or Make step to a separate generator, with plans and prices compared.

Updated 21 Oct 2026

Jotform is one of the few form sources with its own PDF tool. That makes the first question simple: does Jotform’s own PDF do the job? If it does, nothing else is needed. If it does not, a separate document generation tool takes the answers through a webhook or an automation platform. Every tool that lists Jotform is in the directory filtered to Jotform.

The native option

Jotform PDF Editor turns form responses into PDFs inside Jotform. A submission can build the PDF inside Jotform, so there is no second account and no connection to maintain. Jotform PDF Editor has drag-and-drop layouts and over 2,000 templates. Jotform’s paid plans start at $19 a month, and there is a free tier. It lists Google Drive and Dropbox Sign among its integrations in our records. Prices were checked on 20 Oct 2026.

Most Jotform users should start here. The cases that push people to another tool are a template that must live in Word, an output format other than PDF, or a document that combines form answers with data from another system.

The Zapier, Make or n8n path

When the native editor does not fit, a webhook can pass the answers to another tool. Jotform can also start a Zap, a Make scenario or an n8n workflow on each new submission, which then calls the generator. Thirty-four tools in our records accept data from these platforms and output PDF. They do not list Jotform themselves. The automation platform does the connecting.

SourceToDocs reaches Jotform through Zapier, Make or n8n on its Pro plan. It uses Google Docs templates and writes Google Slides, Google Docs, PDF, PPTX and DOCX.

This path costs on two meters, the generator and the automation platform. Check both prices against your monthly submission count.

Dedicated tools

One record lists Jotform as a source besides Jotform’s own editor. The others below take Jotform answers through Zapier or Make.

  • Plumsail Documents uses Word templates and outputs PDF, DOCX, XLSX and PPTX, at $25 a month billed annually ($29 monthly) according to a third-party review, with a 30-day trial and Zapier and Make integrations.
  • Docupilot uses Word or visual builder templates and outputs PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX and e-sign documents, from $29 a month for 100 documents, with a 14-day trial and Zapier and Make integrations.
  • DocsAutomator takes Google Docs, Word or PDF form templates and lists Zapier, Make and n8n, from $19 a month billed yearly ($29 monthly); its free tier gives watermarked previews only.
  • Documint has a visual template builder, PDF and e-sign output, and lists Zapier and Make, from $39 a month billed annually with a 14-day trial.
  • Carbone fills Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ODT or HTML templates and lists Zapier, Make and n8n, from about $28 a month (EUR 26, converted), with 100 free cloud documents a month.

Which route to pick

Use Jotform PDF Editor when the document is built only from the form’s answers and a drag-and-drop layout is enough. It is part of the product you already use, and the free tier lets you test the layout.

Use Plumsail Documents when the template must be a Word file, or when the same template also needs to produce Excel or PowerPoint. It is the one tool in our records that lists Jotform as a source alongside the native editor, and its record notes a fit with Power Automate and SharePoint.

Use the Zapier or Make path when you already pay for a platform or need a template type neither of the above offers. Google Docs users fit DocsAutomator. Word users fit Docupilot or Carbone. People who prefer a visual builder fit Documint.

Volume decides the plan once the route is set. Jotform’s plan sets its own limits. A separate generator adds its own document count, such as 100 documents on Docupilot’s entry plan. At a few dozen PDFs a month, free tiers and trials cover the test phase.

Repeating sections, such as a list of items or attendees, are the case to test on any route. Submit a response with several entries and check that each prints as its own row.

If the PDF must be signed, Docupilot and Documint list e-sign output in our records, and Jotform PDF Editor lists Dropbox Sign as an integration.
