Zapier, Make and n8n move data between apps. Thirty-four tools in our records accept data from them and output PDF, more than any app source except a direct API. The full list is on the Zapier, Make or n8n to PDF page, and the hub for this source covers Word, Google Docs and other outputs.
The native option
This source has no native option. The automation platform is the trigger: a Zap, scenario or workflow sends the data to the generator when something changes in a connected app. The PDF itself comes from a document generation tool that the platform calls as a step. So the question is which generators offer a step on the platform you already use.
The Zapier, Make or n8n path
The three platforms do the same job, and the generators do not support them equally. Here is how the 34 tools in our records split by the integrations they list.
All three platforms. SourceToDocs lists Zapier, Make and n8n from its Pro plan. It uses Google Docs templates and writes Google Slides, Google Docs, PDF, PPTX and DOCX. Its record is not tagged with this source, so it is not counted in the 34. Eleven of the 34 list all three: APITemplate.io, Carbone, CraftMyPDF, DocsAutomator, DocuGenerate, Documentero, PDF Generator API, pdf noodle, PDF4me, Placid and Templated.io. If you might move platforms later, this group keeps your template usable.
Zapier and Make. Eight tools list both but not n8n: Bannerbear, Contractbook, Documint, Docupilot, PDF Maker, PDFMonkey, Plumsail Documents and Prospero. Prospero is a proposal tool we list as adjacent.
Zapier only. Eleven tools list Zapier alone, and five of them are adjacent proposal or e-sign products: Better Proposals, Oneflow, PandaDoc, Proposify and SignWell. The others are Crove, Formstack Documents, Gavel, Knackly, MailMergic and Portant.
Make and n8n. One tool, CustomJS, lists Make and n8n without Zapier. It runs JavaScript and HTML-to-PDF functions inside those workflows.
None listed. Three records tagged with this source list none of the three in their integrations field: Eledo, Orshot and PDF.co. Their records do not detail integrations, so check the vendor’s own integration list before you plan around them.
Across all PDF tools in our records, 33 list Zapier, 22 list Make and 13 list n8n. Zapier has the widest choice of generators. n8n has the narrowest. Of the 13 PDF tools that list n8n, all but CustomJS also list Zapier.
The steps look alike on each platform. A trigger fires, an action sends fields to the generator’s template, and the generator returns a PDF file or a link. Line items are where they differ in practice: each platform passes a list of items in its own way, so test a record with several items before you go live.

Which route to pick
Start from the platform you already pay for. On n8n, choose from the eleven tools that list all three, or CustomJS. On Make, add the Zapier and Make group. On Zapier, every tool above is open to you.
Then pick by who edits the template. Google Docs or Word users fit DocsAutomator, Docupilot or Carbone. People who prefer a drag-and-drop editor fit Documint or CraftMyPDF. People who write HTML fit PDFMonkey.
Volume decides the plan. Each run also counts against your platform plan, so a high-volume job costs on both sides. At a few dozen PDFs a month, a free generator tier plus your current platform plan is often enough. At thousands, compare the generator’s per-document price and the platform’s per-task price together.
